Product premiere: new laboratory bioreactor to be unveiled
November 03, 2014
Bilfinger Industrietechnik Salzburg has widened its range of fermentation equipment with the launch of a laboratory bioreactor. Designed for flexible use at research, development and training facilities, the laboratory bioreactor was unveiled at China-Pharm 2014 in Shenzhen (China).
“It was important for us to create a flexible and compact bioreactor system,” explains Pablo Pino-Grace, head of the development team. There is a separate control unit to which one or two separate reactor units can be connected, depending on requirements. Thanks to this separation and mobility, all components can be moved independently of each other and set up in different constellations swiftly and simply depending on local requirements.
The automation software used is SIMATIC PCS 7. Via a touchscreen mounted at an inclined angle in the controlling unit, users can keep an eye on the process visualisation and conveniently operate the system. The laboratory bioreactor has a working volume of 15 to 100 litres.
Like all standard Bilfinger Salzburg bioreactors, the new product is based on an intelligent modular Bilfinger building block system, which combines the advantages of volume production with customised solutions. Proven and reliable modules are available for all main functions. The customer can select what he needs to assemble a system to perfectly match his requirements. This modular system reduces project and delivery periods as it combines modules for which the planning and development work has largely already been completed.
